Hi, I’m Shea Curtin- your “QUAREN-TEEN” baker and the founder of Shea La Vie Cupcakery! What started as a happy accident at age 14 has grown into something truly SWEET!
Back in 2020, when COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill, I was like every other teenager- glued to my phone. One day, my mom had enough and threatened to throw it out the window unless I found something productive to do. So, I turned to the kitchen.
I dove headfirst into baking. I spent hours on Pinterest and YouTube, testing recipes and learning how to bring my ideas to life. I started sending cupcakes with my dad- a dedicated FDNY firefighter- to work, hoping to bring a little joy to the first responders working around the clock. Seeing their smiles made my heart feel full.
My mom started posting my cupcakes on social media, and to my surprise, people went crazy for them! After a lot of (initial) resistance, I took the leap- and Shea La Vie Cupcakery was born!
Since then, I’ve spent countless hours in the kitchen, donated hundreds of cupcakes, and created fun, innovative flavors I’m so proud of. I now attend the University of Alabama, majoring in Special Education, with a mission that’s close to my heart: to open a brick-and-mortar cupcake shop that exclusively employs individuals with different needs.
